GASKET: FILTER, FLUID, PRESSURE, AUTOMOTIVE FUEL
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item
description (CID) as a replacement for MS51091B, which is canceled.
ABSTRACT
This CID covers a synthetic rubber gasket used in pressurized automotive fuel filters.
SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
a. Material. The gasket shall be made of a low volume swell synthetic rubber designation
M5BG610A14B24E014F17 or M5BG710A14B24E014F17 in accordance with American Society
for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standard D2000. The use of recovered materials made in
compliance with regulatory requirements is acceptable providing that all requirements of this CID
are met (see note e).
1. Age control. The maximum age of gaskets at the time of acceptance by the
Government acquiring activity shall be no more than 40 quarters from the cure date.
b. Gasket sizes. Gaskets shall be made in accordance with the sizes specified in figure 1.
c. Storage. Gaskets shall be protected from circulating air, sunlight, fuel, oil, water,
dust, and ozone during storage. Storage temperature shall not exceed 125 degrees Fahrenheit
(°F) [52 degrees Celsius (°C)].
